🥞 Our Favorite Sourdough Pancakes + A Thought on Slowing Down
As school routines pick back up and the mornings start to feel a little more rushed, I’ve been reminding myself that peace doesn’t have to be complicated.
This recipe is one of our family’s absolute favorites—and the perfect way to slow down on a Saturday morning.
Why We Love It
These pancakes are soft, lightly tangy, and fill the kitchen with that warm, comforting scent that says home. We’ve been making them for years, and I still look forward to them every week.
Top them with fresh berries, sliced bananas, or just a pat of butter and a drizzle of local honey. Simple, nourishing, and kid-approved.
📝 Sourdough Pancake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup sourdough starter (fed or discard both work)
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp sugar or honey (optional)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until smooth
Heat a non-stick or cast iron skillet over medium heat
Ladle batter onto the hot skillet
Flip when bubbles form and the edges are slightly dry
Serve warm with your favorite toppings
No sourdough starter?
Try replacing it with ½ cup plain Greek yogurt + ½ cup flour. It’s not the same, but it still gives that soft texture and just enough tang.
đź’ś A Note From the Farm
Saturday mornings are my time to reset.
The goats are milked, the sun’s coming up slow, and I get to serve something warm and made-from-scratch to the people I love.
You don’t have to do a lot to care for your family—or yourself.
You just have to choose it on purpose.
And whether it’s pancakes or soap or a quiet moment in the mirror…
You’re worth slowing down for.
