The Beauty and Brutality of Farm Life
What goats, grief, and healing taught me about trusting what I can’t control
Raising animals—especially goats—will test everything in you.
It’s early mornings and late nights.
It’s busted fences, missed signs, and heartbreaking losses.
It’s scraped knees, tear-stained shirts, and the ache of not being able to fix what you want so badly to fix.
But somehow, it’s also peace.
It’s healing.
It’s hope.
And I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
It’s the Best and the Worst Life All at Once
This farm has pushed me to my limits—and brought me to my knees.
It has tried my patience, exposed my pride, and taught me more about surrender than any sermon ever could.
I’ve stood in the barn with tears running down my face, whispering prayers over a doe I couldn’t save.
I’ve felt the weight of decisions that didn’t come with clear answers.
And I’ve learned—again and again—that I am not in control.
But I’ve also sat quietly with baby goats curled at my feet, heard the comforting rhythm of milk hitting the pail, and felt deep, unshakable peace watching the sunrise from the pasture gate.
This Farm Became My Sanctuary
After several severe events in my life—trauma that left deep wounds—this little farm became more than a piece of land. It became a place to heal.
The routine. The responsibility. The quiet moments of watching nature do its thing…
It brought me back to life in ways nothing else had.
And the best part? Now I get to take that healing and share it.
Everything I make—my goat milk soap, herbal salves, magnesium lotion—is crafted with the same care that saved me. It’s not just skincare. It’s healing, packaged up in a way you can hold in your hands.
Letting Go and Learning to Trust
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this:
You won’t save them all.
No matter how much you love, prepare, or fight—sometimes, nature still takes its course.
You learn to trust your gut.
You learn to respond early instead of waiting too long.
And you learn to sit with the grief when it comes.
It’s not easy. But it’s real. And that’s where the growth happens.
If You’ve Felt This Too… You’re Not Alone
Maybe you don’t own goats.
Maybe your days are spent wrangling toddlers, managing chronic illness, or keeping up with a job that drains you.
But I’ll bet you’ve felt the tension of doing all you can… and still having to let go.
That’s where this story meets you.
This life—messy and sacred as it is—has taught me that healing often starts right there in the middle of the chaos.
And my hope is that something I’ve walked through can bring comfort, connection, or encouragement to you too.
